Adriana Calandra
Adriana Calandra is originally from north New Jersey, but now resides on campus as a freshman at Fordham University Rose Hill. Adriana is currently an English major and hopesto attend law school. Adriana’s passions include reading 19th and 20th century British literature, writing short stories, and traveling to New York City as often as possible.

Spencer Chappell
Spencer Chappell recently completed her freshman year at Fordham University where she plans to pursue a double major in International Political Economy and Sociology. In addition to writing, Spencer enjoys traveling and reading. She is also a member of the varsity Swimming and Diving Team.

Monica Cleary
Monica Cleary is a freshman at Fordham College of Rose Hill from New Jersey. An English and Spanish double major, she plans to obtain a Masters in Secondary Education. Monica wrote this piece because college tuition has become an exigent issue in American education. She enjoys creative writing, traveling, and running.

Maria D’Amore, who is originally from Connecticut, is now a proud member of Fordham College’s class of 2015. She has always been an avid reader with a special interest in poetry and mystery novels. She hopes to major in English and one day turn her passion into her profession by working in a publishing house.

Christopher Morel
Christopher was born and raised in Harlem, New York. He wants to major in Political Science and minor in Sociology. In the future he plans to attend Fordham Law School and ultimately become a Criminal Defense Attorney. His essay touches upon one of the most controversial issues in the United States today.

I am a psychology/pre-med student. My upbringing on long island has fostered my love for New York City. I have always been fascinated by the obscure and lesser-known areas of the city, which along with my love for science, allowed for the marriage of my two passions in this essay.
