Adriana Calandra
Adriana Calandra is originally from north New Jersey, but now resides on campus as a freshman at Fordham University Rose Hill. Adriana is currently an English major and hopes to attend law school. Adriana’s passions include reading 19th and 20th century British literature, writing short stories, and traveling to New York City as often as possible.

Gabriela Cinkova
Gabriela Cinkova is a freshman in the Fordham Gabelli School of Business. She was born in Prague, Czech Republic, but grew up in California prior to moving to New York for college. Gabriela enjoys travel and photography, and is a member of the varsity volleyball team at Fordham.

My name is Vincent Daniels and I am a Sophomore in the Gabelli School of Business with aspirations to attend Fordham’s Law School. I transferred to the Bronx from my previous institution in New Jersey, which is where I live. I chose to write my essay on Censorship because it is a growing issue that involves everybody. Most people do not know how much this topic affects their everyday lives. My essay explains how censorship has impacted the works of award winning cinema and the great writings of America’s past.

A British Freshman at Fordham, Ross Garlick is a Business student who still maintains a passion for Literature and the Liberal Arts. Victoria Garrity
Victoria Garrity is a member of the Fordham College Rose Hill class of 2015 and intends to major in Communications and Media studies. With the passing of Prop 8 in California in 2008, she became inspired to look deeper into the legal justifications for banning same-sex marriage. This essay is a reflection of her findings that there is no justification in U.S. law for denying same-sex couples the right to marry.

Stephanie Hsu currently steps lively on the streets of Taipei, pursuing her undergraduate studies in Communications after transferring from Fordham University. She wrote her essay in hopes that the gates of Fordham would not act as a barrier to her fellow students in seeing the diverse experiences and opportunities present in this big, wide world of ours.

My name is Rachel Lee, and I am a freshman at Fordham College Rose Hill. I grew up in Orange County, California and graduated in 2011 from JSerra Catholic High School. My intended major is Communications, and after college I hope to attend law school. From a young age, I possessed a love for reading and writing, which was strengthened through the support of my mother, grandmother, and teachers. Family is a major aspect of my life, and I attempted to convey my appreciation for my parents and siblings in this essay.

Cherokee McAnelly is a freshman at Fordham College, Rose Hill from San Francisco, CA who intends to double major in Environmental Policy and International Political Economy. I am a current freshman at Fordham University, majoring in Psychology and minoring in English and Theology. I chose to write about violent acts against homosexuality within public schools because it is a serious arising problem within America. A simple commentary like my writing raises awareness and can hopefully cause actions of reduction in violence.
